John Muir Health Walnut Creek Outpatient Specialty Center

John Muir Health teamed up with UC San Francisco (UCSF) to build a new Outpatient Specialty Center (OSC) on the existing John Muir Hospital Campus in Walnut Creek, CA. The OSC is a new three-story building with a 125′ long underground tunnel connecting the parking structure to the OSC. Magnum Drywall’s Painting & Wallcovering Division teamed up with the architect Smith Group and the contractor Swinerton Builders to paint the interior of the building and install some custom graphics. The John Muir Health OSC was completed in 2024.

A Modernized OSC

The John Muir Health OSC was built from the ground up, with a structural concrete frame with a 4’/5′ thick MAT foundation, and was wrapped in a façade composed of EIFS, ACM panels, punched aluminum windows, and glass curtain wall systems. The new building offers imaging services, including three MRI rooms, CT, Pet-CT, and an oncology program with UCSF that includes a radiation oncology department with three Varian LINACs, Brachytherapy (HDR), chemotherapy infusion with associated pharmacy, lab, and medical-surgical oncology clinics.

The OSC is going to offer several different disease-specific treatments for numerous types of cancer, bringing specialty oncology care to the Walnut Creek community. At the John Muir Health OSC, patients will be able to access a wide range of oncology services in one place, they will have access to some of the top cancer subspecialists, and they will be able to enroll in clinical trials. A care team will be able to work together and help patients navigate their cancer journey from diagnosis to recovery.

“When patients walk into this building, they have UCSF and John Muir Health behind them, which will give them confidence that they will receive the best treatments available anywhere in the world” – Alan Ashworth, Ph.D., UCSF

Painting Project Specifics

Magnum’s award-winning Painting & Wallcovering Division painted the interior of the 155,176 square-foot John Muir Health OSC building under the direction of Project Manager Tyler Ryan. We also installed custom graphics throughout the building, and the painting team primed those walls before installing the graphics. We used colors to foster healing, as that’s the purpose of the building, and we took that purpose to heart when completing the painting project.

Our Team

The award-winning Magnum Drywall Painting & Wallcovering team worked hard to paint the interior of the John Muir Health OSC building and install custom graphics.

Our skills and experience cannot be matched when it comes to executing projects; that’s why it’s one of our core values: “We do it right. On time. Without Complaint.” Overall, the Magnum Painting and Wallcoverings division did an excellent job coming together and completing this beautiful project on time.

Whether you need some custom painting in your building or a bigger, more ambitious project completed, contact Magnum Drywall today! We bring five trades together under a single team, so you only need to work with one contractor instead of multiple for your project.
